CDC Software acquired SaaS ecommerce platform Truition
Updated: 2009-11-24
Enterprise software developer CDC acquired Truition, a SaaSecommerce platform for brand manufacturers and retailers, in a deal the developer said would help complement its on-premise solutions.
According to CDC, the company's acquisition of Truition will occur within the next two weeks. CDC said that the new acquisition will help the company focus on key verticals, including financial services, retail, apparel, consumer electronics, nonprofits, consumer packaged goods, sports/entertainment, and travel/leisure/loyalty.
"Truition helps us gain a strong foot hold in the SaaS market, and we believe it opens up the business-to-consumer market for our solutions," said CDC president Bruce Cameron.
Previous CDC offerings include software solutions for manufacturing, supply chain, customer service and human resource management. The developer's acquisition of Truition, a company that primarily serves consumer-facing organizations such as American Airlines and Major League Baseball, therefore opens up a whole new sector of the economy to CDC's offerings.
On November 23, CDC released its third-quarter earnings for 2009. The company reported revenues of $48.6 million, and a net income of $9.6 million. The company said that its efforts to reduce operating expenses helped it exceed Wall Street expectations for net income.
