MindTouch releases SaaS enterprise collaboration platform
Updated: 2009-11-19
Open source enterprise collaboration developer MindTouch launched a SaaS version of its platform Thursday designed to help non-programmer business users combine data from various enterprise systems into reports, graphs, charts and tables.
This release will be MindTouch's first SaaS solution, and the first web-based service that allows businesses to combine data from multiple web applications and enterprise systems, according to the developer. The service will be compatible with a number of common enterprise systems, including SugarCRM, Salesforce.com, and various accounts payable, enterprise resource planning and support ticketing solutions.
"Anyone who has to track and collaborate across the silos of a supply chain, cull data from multiple data sources monthly or report across CRM, support, financial, etc. knows the tremendous value of automation with MindTouch," said MindTouch founder and chief executive Aaron Fulkerson.
The company bills the new solution as a cloud-based, open source SharePoint that is accessible to non-technical business users. The beta of SharePoint 2010, the latest version of Microsoft's enterprise content management software, came out earlier this month.
MindTouch is an open source software developer based in San Diego, and founded in 2005. Its first release was MediaWiki, the open source software used by the WikiMedia Foundation and free content encyclopedia Wikipedia.
