Cloud computing keeps executives connected

Given the ongoing uncertainty in the financial markets, it makes sense that even when executives are out of the office they want to keep a pulse on the work environment.
Mobile technology like the Blackberry and iPhone have made it increasingly easy for executives to communicate via email and stay connected in conference calls.
A number of SaaS providers have also developed applications for mobile users to stay connected to company systems and databases making the actual task of being away from the office increasingly difficult to accomplish.
In fact, a recent poll by the Creative Group showed that 61 percent of marketing and advertising executives contacted the office at least one time a day while supposedly on vacation. This trend of constantly being in touch has increased from 2006 and 2001 where 47 percent and 38 percent of bosses checked in daily.
"For better or worse, technology has made it easier for professionals to check in with the office from just about anywhere," said Megan Slabinski, executive director of the Creative Group.
